When a Pre-Owned Audi R8 Needed More Than a Showroom
Reimagining a photographed Audi R8 V10+ in an environment worthy of its DNA
There is a peculiar problem with photographing a supercar for a pre-owned showroom.
You can have the right car.
You can have the right camera.
You can have perfect exposure, sharp details and beautiful reflections.
And yet, somehow, the image can still feel… ordinary.
That was the starting point for this project.
The Audi R8 V10+ sitting in the showroom was already an extraordinary machine. But the environment around it told a very different story. It was a pre-owned car, photographed in a parking structure, under artificial lighting, surrounded by concrete, pillars and the familiar visual language of a dealership.
Nothing wrong with that.
But an Audi R8 is not exactly the sort of car that was born to spend its life looking at parking-bay numbers.
It was built around a completely different idea: speed, precision, theatre and an unapologetic mechanical character.
So instead of simply retouching the photographs, I decided to ask a different question:
What if we showed the R8 in an environment that felt like it belonged to the car?
What I Wanted the Viewer to Feel
The most important question in a visual project is rarely:
"Does it look good?"
The better question is:
"What does it make you feel?"
With these images, I wanted the viewer to feel the cold air.
Hear the V10.
Feel the wet road underneath the tyres.
See the sunlight disappearing behind the mountains.
And imagine the road continuing for hundreds of kilometres with absolutely nobody around.
That is the fantasy of the R8.
Not simply owning a fast car. But having a machine capable of turning an ordinary road into an adventure.
Shot on my DSLR at a client's pre-owned car showroom parking, these raw photographs became the foundation of the story — later transformed into a new visual environment that better reflects the character and spirit of the Audi R8.
